More and more people have mixed feelings about their presence on so-called social media. All that business on X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok; on the one hand it’s fun, on the other hand it takes mountains of time and you don’t get much out of it. A funny quote I came across:
Back in the day, without Facebook, man, those were the times!
You had to call all your 400 friends every evening to tell them what you’d eaten!
In any case, I’m glad that I’m only still somewhat active on LinkedIn. After canceling Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and I think another one or two, I had time left over for other things—like learning something about polyvagal theory—and it cost me exactly nothing in terms of clients or subscribers.
Recently I found a video on the Dutch Cowboys website that shows exactly what—besides all those stimuli to keep scrolling and watch just one more video—is so strange about all those so-called social media. The video is called “Can I Be Your Friend?” and shows what it would look like if you did in real life what you do on Facebook and other social media. Facebook in real life, in other words. Further explanation is actually unnecessary. Watch, enjoy, laugh, and afterwards scratch your head a bit…
